Our Team

Anthenor Public Affairs was founded by Gilles Lamarque in 2003 after years of experience in European affairs and lobbying strategy.

Gilles began his career at the Conseil National du Patronat Français (National Council of French Employers) (now MEDEF – Mouvement des Entreprises de France, the federation of French employers), where he was particularly involved with decentralisation and coordination of the regional Councils, bringing him into contact with senior politicians as well as business leaders, national associations and local authorities.

He then worked at Publicis Consultants in Brussels, as a consultant for businesses and large institutions in the fields of industrial politics, competition, the environment and transport.

In 1995, he joined Renault in the department for External Relations. He represented the group and managed relations with ministerial cabinets and the principal administrations responsible for finance, industry, European affairs and transport.

Besides the management of the firm, Gilles Lamarque created and still leads the Cercle des Directeurs des affaires publiques (Public Affairs Directors’ Council)  which counts 31 members, and the Cercle des Directeurs des affaires publiques des filiales françaises des grandes sociétés étrangères (Public Affairs Directors’ Council for French Subsidiaries of Foreign Companies), with 22 members.

He has also given lectures on European lobbying at various institutes of higher education, including the Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) in Paris.

He is the author of Lobbying, in the collection Que sais-je? (PUF)

Gilles Lamarque graduated from the Institute of Political Studies of Paris ‘Sciences-Po’ and from the INSEAD Business School.

The firm’s consultants, all highly-experienced graduates of the Grandes Ecoles, have expertise in many fields, such as in energy, commodities, healthcare, finance, the food industry and transport. They come from a variety of backgrounds, and include former parliamentary aids, members of ministerial cabinets, marketing strategists, business analysts, etc. The credentials of each of our associates are presented at the start of every mission.

In accordance with the charter of the Association Française des Conseils en Lobbying (AFCL), of which the firm has been a signatory since its creation, Anthenor Public Affairs does not remunerate any civil servant or parliamentary aid.
